Job Description

PxD is seeking a Senior Finance Associate to join our team. This role is open to candidates with the right to live and work in India.

PxD is a growing US-based NGO with operations in India and Africa. The Senior Finance Associate is a global role that provides financial management, implementation, and planning for the organization. The role works closely with our Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (based in the US) and finance leads in our country offices in India, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

The Senior Finance Associate will oversee and conduct high-quality financial operations, including international transfers, vendor payments, and subcontract payments; support organizational growth through improved systems and processes; and ensure strong financial oversight across PxD. Direct, hands-on accounting is not expected initially, but may become part of the role over time.

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-day financial management, including:

  • Organizing incoming invoices and assigning them to projects
  • Preparing transfers through banking portals for CFO approval and execution
  • Troubleshooting operational issues related to international transfers, vendor vetting, regulatory compliance, and risk management
  • Preparing donor invoices and following up on delayed payments in coordination with project and grants staff
  • Monitoring and managing organizational cash flow to ensure operational needs are met

Management and system oversight:

  • Working in close coordination with the country finance leads in India, Kenya and Ethiopia to ensure alignment, information flow, and smooth financial operations across all geographies.
  • Maintaining and updating financial systems, including account codes and project structures
  • Reviewing quarterly project financial reports to flag budget risks, funding gaps, or likely extensions
  • Driving continuous improvement of financial processes and practices
  • Working with the CFO and country finance leads to strengthen international financial management systems, including developing and codifying organizational policies

Compliance, reporting, and support:

  • Liaising with external auditors, preparing audit schedules, and explaining variances as needed
  • Supporting the India finance team by coordinating with the CA and CS to ensure smooth compliance and execution
  • Ensuring timely monthly close of accounts
  • Supporting the CFO with annual budgeting and Board reporting
  • Contributing data for audits and supporting internal and external communications
  • Assisting with knowledge management and internal learning initiatives across PxD
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Management-level experience in finance
  • Strong knowledge of financial management, reporting requirements, and accounting principles
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with colleagues in different geographies.
  • Experience with financial and accounting systems; willingness to learn Sage Intacct (PxD’s system)
  • Experience with grants management, project accounting, and donor reporting
  • Exceptional attention to detail, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing internal and external audits
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage large budgets
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree; professional accounting qualifications a plus
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP is a plus, but not required
